Ward Clerk

We have an exciting opportunity to become a band 2 Ward Clerk with part-time hours on a busy gastroenterology ward.
Main duties of the job
This post holder will provide clerical support to nursing staff, relieving them of certain non-nursing duties. The post holder must always present a positive image of the hospital and ensure confidentiality.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals including Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and in patients' homes.

From April 9th, 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have at least two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship. We will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will deal with enquiries, take and convey messages.
Will sort incoming and outgoing mail.
Will maintain ward information boards.
Will requisition repairs as required.
Use Cardea as required.
Photocopying as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education with grade C or above in English.
* Understanding of medical terminology.
Experience
* Clerical/administrative experience.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
Special Skills and Knowledge
* Committed to quality customer care.
* Good communication skills. Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality.
