Overview

We\'re looking for a proactive and driven Assistant Rail Manager to support and optimise rail operations across the South Aggregates region and all Rail Head Operations in the South of England. Responsibilities

* Supporting the Regional Rail Manager in delivering the South region rail strategy.
* Liaising with rail freight partners, depots, and commercial teams to forecast demand and optimise train movements.
* Coordinating train orders across depots and quarries to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Identifying opportunities to increase rail utilisation, reduce road haulage, and lower CO emissions.
* Managing relationships with third-party rail depots and overseeing day-to-day rail operations.
* Reviewing and approving monthly rail recharges, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
* Supporting health & safety improvements related to rail movements across sites.
* Assisting in wagon fleet optimisation and capacity planning with Mendip Rail; Company car (hybrid) to support your role and reduce environmental impact.
