Overview
A well-established engineering company in the Wakefield area is seeking a skilled Fabricator to join its workshop team. This role involves manufacturing bespoke frames, fabricated assemblies, and precision components while maintaining excellent standards of quality, safety, and workmanship.
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
Friday: 08:00 – 15:15
37.5 hours per week
£16.50 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Overtime paid at time and a half for hours worked over 37.5 per week
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret engineering drawings to manufacture bespoke fabricated parts and machine frames
* Produce components to specified tolerances and surface finish requirements
* Fabricate and weld a variety of materials, including stainless steel, to a high standard
* Operate MIG and TIG welding equipment safely and efficiently
* Use workshop machinery such as press brakes and guillotines where required
* Upload and review drawings through the operator terminal where necessary
* Ensure production schedules and deadlines are achieved
* Maintain strong quality standards throughout the fabrication process
* Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe
* Communicate with production coordination staff regarding project requirements and priorities
* Follow company procedures relating to Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards
* Wear appropriate PPE and comply with risk assessments and safe working procedures
* Report any accidents, hazards, or safety concerns to the appropriate manager
* Ensure correct disposal and segregation of waste materials
* Work collaboratively with other departments to support successful project delivery
* Carry out additional duties as reasonably required
Qualifications
City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in fabrication or a related engineering discipline (desirable)
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in fabrication and welding within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Strong MIG and TIG welding capability
* Experience working with stainless steel and producing high-quality finished components
* Ability to read and work from engineering drawings accurately
* Experience operating press brakes and guillotines would be beneficial
* Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment
* Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
