Job Description
Our client, a leading US law firm with a premier private equity and funds platform, is seeking to hire into its highly regarded Financial Services Regulatory team in London. The group sits at the heart of the firm’s sponsor and asset management practice, advising private equity houses, credit funds and asset managers on complex UK and EU regulatory matters.
Working closely with corporate, funds, tax and restructuring teams, the regulatory group is deeply embedded in high-profile, sponsor-led transactions and ongoing advisory mandates.
Work Highlights
The team advises an elite client base including Advent, EQT, Permira and others.
Core areas of work include:
Asset Management & Fund Regulation
* AIFMD and UK AIFM regime advice
* FCA authorizations and permissions
* Ongoing compliance frameworks (conduct, governance, reporting)
* Cross-border marketing and distribution
* Delegation, outsourcing and ESG regulation (SFDR / UK SDR)
Transactional Regulatory Support
* FCA and cross-border change-of-control approvals
* Regulatory due diligence and structuring on acquisitions and disposals
* Advising on regulated targets (insurance, payments, consumer credit)
* GP stakes, platform acquisitions and manager M&A
Private Equity & Private Credit Focus
* Regulatory perimeter issues for credit funds and direct lenders
* Financial promotion regime advice
* Regulatory aspects of special situations and distressed investing
The practice is investment-focused and sponsor-led, rather than traditional banking regulation.
Candidate Profile
* Trainee Solicitor at a leading City or international firm, qualifying September 2026 with a seat in Financial Services Regulatory
* Strong academics and high-quality training
* Experience with AIFMD, FCA processes, regulatory perimeter or change-of-control matters
* Commercially minded with an interest in private equity and private credit
