ATTENDANCE OFFICER – SECONDARY SCHOOL
Prospero Teaching are looking for an Attendance Officer at a school in Bolton, to start as soon as possible, this role will be ongoing.
The role will involve being in charge of attendance across the school. You must be fully conversant, competent with attendance & truancy legislation & have knowledge of the system for monitoring & reporting. It has excellent facilities for teaching and learning.
The role includes:
1. Contacting students & parents regarding attendance, lateness or persistence absences
2. Update school records, analyse attendance data & provide reports to senior managers & other professionals Disseminate information, both internally & externally, in a timely fashion
3. Meet with school staff, pupils & parents to establish the reasons for non-attendance/poor punctuality & agree a plan with appropriate strategies & timescales to tackle the issues
4. Make contact with families in response to allocated referrals through home visits and/or meetings in school
5. Liaise with the Education Welfare Officer. Prepare the appropriate paperwork & present information as required to enable the school meet its obligations & statutory responsibilities. This will include requesting penalty fine notices & if appropriate, the completion of Common Assessment Form (CAF) referrals
6. Be fully aware of & carry out all work in line with Child Protection /Safeguarding Procedures
7. Liaise with external organisations as required
8. Keep accurate, clear & concise records of all interventions, consultations & update the attendance system
9. Maintain a good working knowledge of the statutory framework & any policies & procedures relating to school attendance, child employment, child protection & special needs etc. in order to be able to offer informed advice to parents, school staff & others
10. Liaise with Pastoral Support to advice on all matters relating to attendance & take a lead role in developing work processes to improve school attendance
To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:
11. Hold right to work in the UK
12. Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to process a new application
13. Provide two professional references
14. Ideally have experience being an attendance officer
15. Have experience using SIMS
