Responsibilities and duties of the Solar Electrician role
Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will:
Carry out routine, preventative and corrective maintenance across a portfolio of utility-scale solar farms.
Follow internal procedures and maintenance schedules in line with annual PPM plans.
Conduct system testing, electrical inspections and fault diagnosis on AC and DC infrastructure.
Maintain accurate site records, uploading daily reports through the company's digital reporting system.
Complete site-specific risk assessments, highlight hazards or near misses, and work within all H&S requirements.
Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors to ensure compliance with site standards and safety regulations.
Ensure all electrical testing documentation is compliant and audit-ready.
Support high-voltage operational activities where required.
Escalate technical or site issues to the O&M Manager promptly.
Travel occasionally with overnight stays and participate in a paid weekend rota when scheduled.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ in Electrical Installations.
C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition).
C&G 2391-52 or equivalent testing qualification.
HV Authorised Person status (or willingness to obtain).
First Aid and Fire Marshal training.
IOSH H&S qualification (desirable).
Experience with central inverters and solar plant monitoring systems.
3+ years' experience in utility-scale Solar PV O&M.
Competence working with AC/DC distribution equipment, automation panels, CCTV and SCADA systems.
Ability to use industry-standard testing tools including multimeters, clamp meters and insulation testers.Personal skills
