Long Term Futures has a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Kingston. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for a dedicated individual who can guide and empower children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
You will be a key part of a team committed to pupils' holistic development and emotional wellbeing. Key Responsibilities
* Implementing tailored support programmes to help children develop emotional regulation and positive social skills.
* Providing one-on-one or small group support for pupils who require targeted intervention.
* Applying de-escalation techniques with composure and empathy to manage challenging moments.
* Acting as a positive role model by building strong, trusting connections with pupils.
* Collaborating with teachers, the SENCo, and pastoral staff to ensure a unified approach to pupil wellbeing.
* Tracking and documenting pupil progress to inform future planning and assessments.
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people, specifically those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
* A good understanding of factors that influence emotional wellbeing and a range of positive intervention methods.
* Proficiency in de-escalation techniques, with relevant certifications (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) being a distinct advantage.
* Exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A valid enhanced DBS check or a willingness to apply for one.
