Controls Engineer Location: Bristol (Hybrid / On-site)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Opportunity An established engineering and automation company based in Bristol is looking for an experienced Controls Engineer to join their growing technical team.
This is a key role focused on the design, development, and commissioning of control systems for industrial and automation applications. Youll be working on exciting, high-value projects across a range of industries, taking ownership from concept design through to on-site implementation and testing.

Key Responsibilities Design and develop PLC and HMI control systems for industrial automation projects
Produce detailed control system documentation including wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, and functional design specifications
Configure and program PLCs (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Schneider) and HMIs/SCADA systems
Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) activities
Provide on-site commissioning and technical support as required
Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to deliver integrated solutions
Ensure compliance with relevant industry and safety standards
Identify and implement control system improvements to enhance performance and reliability
About You Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical, Control, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in PLC and HMI/SCADA programming within an industrial environment
Strong understanding of control panel design, instrumentation, and electrical systems
Experience with industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)
Ability to read and create electrical drawings using AutoCAD or EPLAN
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team
Willingness to travel occasionally for site work and commissioning
