CNC Machinist – Milling (Setter / Operator)
Location: Romford
Hours: Monday – Friday (Day Shift)
Reporting To: Production Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist – Milling (Setter / Operator) to join our growing machine shop in Romford. Our machining facility comprises dedicated Milling and Turning teams who manufacture high-quality precision components for the aerospace and defence industries.
Working in a clean, modern and friendly environment, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines while ensuring that all products meet strict customer and quality standards.
You will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for delivering high-precision components within a demanding aerospace manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components.
* Work with 5-axis machining centres, horizontal machining centres and vertical machining centres.
* Ensure components are produced right first time and meet all customer specifications.
* Carry out multi-datum setting and complex offset adjustments.
* Monitor machining operations to maintain high quality and efficiency standards.
* Perform troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on machines where required.
* Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
* Work closely with colleagues to maintain smooth workflow and share technical knowledge.
Machines & Controls
You will be working with:
* Matsuura 5-Axis Machining Centres
* Mori Seiki Horizontal Machining Centres
* Haas Vertical Machining Centres (VMCs)
* Fanuc Controls
Skills & Experience Required
* ONC / HND in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Alternatively, completion of a recognised manufacturing apprenticeship.
* Proven experience as a CNC Miller (Setter / Operator).
* Strong 4-axis and 5-axis machining experience.
* Experience working with multi-datum setups and complex offsets.
* Good working knowledge of:
* Fanuc controls
* Matsuura machines
* Haas machines
* Mori Seiki machines
* Experience within aerospace manufacturing or other high-precision industries.
* Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
* Ability to diagnose and resolve machining issues.
* Positive “can-do” attitude with a willingness to support the wider team.
