We align with the NIST framework and other certifications including ISO27001 and SOC2, striving to keep pace with the evolving threat landscape, supporting A&O Shearman’s strategy to lead in a complex global environment.

You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the firm’s cybersecurity lawyers, who advise on incidents and provide lessons learned to enhance clients’ cyber risk management and incident response programs.

What you will do

* Control digital certificates for secure email, document signing, client portals, and internal applications across jurisdictions.
* Collaborate with legal and IT teams to integrate PKI into document management systems, secure file transfer platforms, and e-signature workflows.
* Develop and maintain PKI governance policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with firm-wide risk management.
* Provide guidance on cryptographic protocols and secure communications to legal and technical teams.

Security & Compliance

* Ensure compliance with data protection and legal regulations like GDPR, UK DPA 2018, HIPAA, ISO27001, eIDAS.
* Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident response activities related to PKI.
* Support incident response activities related to PKI infrastructure.
* Promote security awareness and risk mitigation activities related to PKI.
* Assist GRC team with client queries about PKI infrastructure.
* Stay updated on cryptographic standards, threats, and technologies relevant to the legal sector.

Documentation & Governance

* Contribute to developing and refining PKI-related policies, procedures, standards, and diagrams.
* Maintain records of PKI configurations, incidents, and changes for compliance and audits.

Mentorship and Advocacy

* Mentor junior colleagues in supporting network security.
* Advocate for security culture and risk awareness.
* Provide training on PKI best practices to relevant teams.

What you will have

* Extensive cybersecurity experience, especially in PKI roles.
* Deep understanding of X.509 certificates, CRLs, OCSP, key management, and secure email protocols.
* Experience with enterprise PKI platforms (e.g., Microsoft AD CS, Venafi, DigiCert).
* Excellent communication skills and collaborative work ethic.
* Willingness to learn and grow professionally.

You will stand out if you bring

* Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields like computer science or cybersecurity.
* Experience with cloud-based PKI solutions (Azure Key Vault, AWS ACM).
