Welder / Plater – Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance (Exempt from IR35) Location: West Midlands Contract: Exempt from IR35 We are recruiting experienced Welders to join a specialist rail engineering team carrying out maintenance and corrosion repair on rolling stock vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for contractors who want stable, long-term work within a high‑performing depot environment. Role Overview You will be responsible for structural repair, fabrication, and corrosion remediation on a variety of rolling stock fleets. Working as part of an established engineering team, you will carry out mechanical repair tasks using a range of welding and metalworking tools. Key Responsibilities: Carry out corrosion repair, structural patching, and fabrication on rail vehicles Use MIG / MAG welding to complete high‑quality repairs in line with depot specifications Operate plasma cutting tools, grinders, and other metalworking equipment Interpret engineering drawings and follow safe working procedures Ensure all work complies with industry standards and depot quality requirements Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all H&S protocols Requirements: Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator, ideally within the rail, heavy engineering, or industrial sectors Competent in MIG / MAG welding Experience using plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication tools Ability to work independently a...
