We are recruiting for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to work within Children’s Speech and Language Therapy in St Helens Community Paediatric Service. The role is within the Mersey Care Trust.
Responsibilities
* Work with children aged 0‑18 with speech, language and communication difficulties.
* Assess, diagnose and treat children, supporting differential diagnosis where appropriate.
* Provide therapeutic intervention, develop speech and language therapy care plans and produce reports.
* Collaborate with other agencies and carers, enabling them to understand communication impairments and provide appropriate support.
* Manage own caseload with support from supervisors and line managers.
* Maintain registration and membership of RCSLT and HCPC, and engage in professional development and appraisal processes.
* Participate in team training and deliver formal training and informal coaching sessions to parents, staff and educational settings.
* Supervise Speech and Language Therapy Assistants, carrying out advisory and specialist visits.
* Receive regular clinical and group supervision, and line management support from experienced Speech and Language Therapists.
* Work across a pre‑school and school‑age caseload in mainstream schools, nursery settings and community clinics.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant experience working with children and young people aged 0‑18 with speech, language and communication difficulties.
* Demonstrated knowledge of RCSLT competencies and person‑centred assessment, intervention and support.
* Strong interpersonal, creative and innovative skills, with enthusiasm to communicate the importance of speech and language in the community.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other agencies and carers.
