Are you an occupational therapist who has the knowledge and desire to work with vulnerable children who are supported by the local authority or are looked after by the Local Authority? If you have a passion to support children who have suffered developmental trauma this could be an amazing opportunity.
This is a really exciting new role which you will be part of developing. The Community CAMHS Targeted Team works with children and young people presenting with emotional and behavioural problems who have a history of complex attachment difficulties due to abuse, neglect and trauma that are causing emotional distress and impacting on their mental health. The children we support may be on the edge of care, Looked after by the local authority or children who have been adopted. CAMHS Targeted Team is a welcoming, friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team committed to providing innovative and high quality care. We offer a variety of evidence based specialist therapeutic interventions such as Trauma focused CBT, functional and sensory assessments, and are informed by Dyadic developmental psychotherapy, play therapy and reflective network spaces to professionals around the child or young person. We use our knowledge of trauma and attachment to support those receiving the service whether this is direct or indirect work for the child/carers and/or the network to support and help with mental health difficulties.
Responsibilities
* conduct assessments and provide therapeutic interventions, in line with NICE guidance and excellent clinical practice, for children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences and may have complex trauma and other mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* The occupational therapist will be developing this role and work alongside and collaboratively with team members as well as have their own caseload.
* There will be significant working with partner agencies such as Hertfordshire Children’s service due to the nature of our team
* be part of an excellent multi-disciplinary team
* be expected to work holistically with your service users, taking a care coordination function as required
