Thomas Jolyffe Primary School is opening a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for a maximum of 8 pupils from EYFS – KS2 with Communication and Interaction needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a lively and enthusiastic practitioner with a passion for SEND and Inclusion, who is committed to achieving excellent outcomes for the students in our SRP, enabling them to thrive and be included with their mainstream peers successfully within our unique setting.
The successful candidate will have high expectations and demonstrate a calm, positive and consistent approach towards pupils with Autism and/or pupils with social and communication difficulties and complex SEND. The successful candidate will promote inclusive and adaptable teaching and learning strategies which follow a tailored curriculum that supports the development of the whole child. They will also be a part of the senior leadership team of the school.
The SRP will have its own classroom providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children who need support at a higher level than the mainstream classroom. Pupils in the SRP will be assessed and learning subsequently planned to meet their individual needs, which will encompass both the National Curriculum, their EHCP and a focus on communication and interaction development.
We welcome applications from teachers with experience of teaching in an Early Years or primary setting who have the ability to transfer their skills to working with pupils who have communication and interaction difficulties and cognition and learning needs. We also welcome applications from teachers who have experience in teaching in mainstream or specialist schools.

• Has a proven ability to teach pupils with C&I needs effectively, using dynamic & engaging techniques
• Has the ability to lead a provision and manage staff in an effective way towards outstanding practice
• Can reflect and see solutions in daily teaching, in own practice and that of the team
• Can use their initiative to solve problems
• Can share ideas for the adjustment of learning to enable pupils to access the learning effectively
• Provides learning opportunities that meet individual pupils needs and EHCP outcomes
• To build effective trusting relationships with staff, pupils, parents, and external agencies.

OFSTED’s last monitoring visit in April 2024 noted that ‘Pupils learn in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The school is determined for all pupils to succeed. Governors know the school well and understand the school's priorities".
