Overview
Within one of these Business Units, Alternative Heat delivers turnkey plantroom packages at scale, directly to hyperscale developers throughout Europe, under long-term framework agreements. This Business Unit is scaling at pace, and we have secured a 5-year framework agreement to design, manufacture and deliver volume-based, turnkey plantroom modules (mechanical, electrical and BMS) to projects throughout Europe, with demand set to increase annually.
In line with this, we need to recruit a Head of Operations (M&E) to oversee, manage and develop the offsite operational delivery of these plantrooms, managing and developing our mechanical, electrical, BMS and offsite assembly teams. There is also an aspiration for the Head of Operations (M&E) to sit on the Senior Leadership team of the project to help oversee and manage cross-functional management and performance of the project under the framework, providing leadership and governance as we scale our teams in order to increase productivity and scale capacity.
What You'll Be Doing
This role focuses on driving operational efficiency by providing strategic input across design, engineering, planning, and quality functions, while fostering a strong culture of continuous improvement to enhance cycle times, reduce programme durations, and maintain high standards of quality and health and safety. It involves managing subcontracted labour to meet demand, ensuring alignment with project programmes, and establishing clear, data-driven reporting on operational performance and capacity to support decision-making around growth and investment. The position also requires maintaining visibility over workload, capacity, and delivery risks across all timeframes, supported by integrated and digitally advanced planning processes. Additionally, it carries executive responsibility for health, safety, quality, and compliance, ensuring robust governance and risk management systems are in place. Ultimately, the role champions operational excellence through innovation, including investment in advanced manufacturing, automation, and digital tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.
