INTERIM ASSISTANT FINANCIAL CONTROLLER – MULTI-SITE RETAIL
Camberley – 3 days on-site – 5-month contract – PE-owned business going through change
£500-£600 per day (inside IR35)
Are you a senior finance contractor with strong technical skills? Can you steady the ship and lead a year-end close in a complex, manual environment?
We’re looking for an experienced interim to cover the Assistant Financial Controller position during a period of significant change. This role will support the Financial Controller with a high-stakes year-end, lead the team through the monthly close, and manage all statutory and compliance activity.
It’s a hands-on assignment in a PE-backed brand where resilience, pace, and clarity are key. You’ll be managing a stretched team, improving processes, and ensuring continuity while a permanent hire is secured.

* Qualified Accountant with strong technical and statutory reporting experience (ACA / ACCA / CA / CIMA)
* Adept at picking things up quickly and working with minimal direction
* Comfortable in manual, Excel-heavy environments
THE ROLE
* Lead the UK&I month-end and year-end close process under FRS 102
* Own statutory reporting and support local tax requirements (VAT, PSA, etc.)
* Deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations to tight deadlines
* Coordinate external audit and prepare schedules
* Support with forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
* Manage a team of five
* Coach and support the team through transition and change
* Help identify process and control improvements
* Provide knowledge transfer and handover to the incoming permanent hire
YOUR PROFILE
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA)
* Effective communicator – written & verbal
* Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel
* Hands-on leader, confident owning the close in a mid-sized, complex business
* Comfortable in manual, Excel-heavy environments
RATE
* £500–£600 per day (inside IR35)
* 3 days per week on-site in Camberley (parking available)
* Estimated 5-month contract while recruiting permanent hire
