We are seeking a Research Fellow – Statistical Data Scientist to join the Big Data in Health Group at the University of Southampton. The Fellow will work on a UKRI-funded project investigating how temperature extremes, such as heatwaves and cold spells, affect the health of people living with multiple long-term conditions (MLTC). The work will focus on analysing CPRD and HES data to understand the effects of extreme temperature on health outcomes (e.g., hospitalisation and mortality) on multimorbidity populations.
The work will be based within the Big Data in Health Group (BDiH) at the University of Southampton, led by Dr Hajira Dambha-Miller.
About The Role
Experience in analysing CPRD is essential. You will primarily be responsible for conducting CPRD and HES analyses to quantify temperature-related health risks in multimorbidity populations. The role requires strong organisational skills, independence, and proficiency in statistical analysis. You are expected to prepare findings for publications, presentations, and interactive visualisations. The post holder will contribute to monthly consortium meetings, training activities, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
About You
We welcome applicants with experience in CPRD analysis, statistical/epidemiological expertise, and strong writing and presentation skills. The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team is essential.

The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
