Job Summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and innovative Healthcare Support Worker to join our Children's Outpatients Team. The working hours are either 09:00-17:00 or 08:30-16:30, with occasional adjustments to accommodate clinic schedules. You may be required to work across sites between Watford and Hemel Hempstead Children\'s Outpatients. We offer development and in-house training, flexible working, and a range of staff benefits.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for self-motivated, organized, adaptable, friendly candidates with excellent interpersonal skills who can work calmly and effectively in a busy environment. Previous experience working with children or as a Healthcare Support Worker is essential.
The Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Helping to run the clinics, and knowing the needs for each specialty
* Restocking the trolleys and consultation rooms
* Helping to keep the department safe for children during their appointments
* ECGs for patients

Job Description – Job responsibilities
* Measuring patients’ height and weight and recording on documentation
* Urinalysis and HbA1c for Diabetic clinics
* ECGs for Consultants when required
* Head circumference measurements
* Teaching inhaler technique (after in-house training)
* Spirometry and FeNO for respiratory clinics (after training)
* Regular restocking of blood trolleys and ward stock
* Blood pressure measurement (manual and automatic)
* Venepuncture training

Person Specification
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 Child or working towards or equivalent experience
* Trained and experienced in phlebotomy
Desirable
* Paediatric Basic Life Support
* Experience in paediatric phlebotomy
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of child protection
* Understanding of health and safety
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality
Desirable
* Knowledge of urinalysis testing
* Knowledge of inhaler technique training
* Familiar with lung function testing, hydrogen breath and lactose testing, and allergy testing
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience of working with children
Desirable
* Experience of working in an Outpatients environment
