Job summary
The Pathology IT Systems Support Officer provides essential technical and desktop support for the pathology IT systems across Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS). Reporting to the Pathology IT Service Lead, the post holder supports the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and development of key systems such as Clinisys WinPath Enterprise, SampleNet, Path Manager, and ICE Order Comms.
This role involves first-line helpdesk support, system monitoring, user account management, and troubleshooting of complex IT issues. The officer will also assist with system upgrades, data integrity checks, and reporting, while liaising with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless service delivery. Strong communication, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this dynamic and evolving environment.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be a lead desktop and technical support within Pathology IT.
* Providing systems support for the Pathology laboratory system, including investigation of IT system malfunctions, integration support, small systems advice, and policies.
* Maintaining general housekeeping and managing system user accounts & passwords.
* Responsible for maintaining the Pathology laboratory system and day-to-day running of the Pathology IT systems within the Trust and external links to other organizations.
* Assist the Path IT systems engineer and managers with the ongoing development and support of Pathology and associated computer systems, notably Clinisys Winpath Enterprise, SampleNet, Path Manager, and ICE Order Comms.
* Act as a point of contact for Pathology IT matters, including fault finding, system configuration, activity and information reporting.
* Provide first-line helpdesk support to users of the Pathology systems, including maintenance of the pathology customer relationship management application.
