Working Pattern: Part-Time (2 Programmed Activities per week)
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant to take on the leadership role of Clinical Director for Specialty Medicine at Whipps Cross University Hospital on a fixed-term basis for 3 years.
This role will be delivered alongside existing clinical commitments and attracts 2 PAs per week, in addition to a £10,000 per annum responsibility allowance.
This is an exciting opportunity for a current or aspiring clinical leader to play a central role in shaping and delivering high-quality, safe, and effective services across a diverse portfolio of specialties.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Director will work as part of a triumvirate leadership team with the Associate Director of Nursing and General Manager to lead and manage the delivery of high-performing, safe, and patient-centred care across the Specialty Medicine services.
Working closely with divisional leadership, the Clinical Director will be responsible for:
• Providing strategic and clinical leadership for the Directorate
• Delivering services in line with Trust standards for quality, safety, activity, finance, and workforce
• Supporting performance improvement and service development
• Ensuring alignment with divisional and Trust-wide priorities and strategy

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Relevant GMC/NMC registration
2. Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

5. Works at a senior clinical level (Band 8c or above for non-medical staff)
6. Significant experience of leadership and management
7. Establishing and sustaining effective strategic direction
8. Experience of clinical governance and of the measures to ensure patient safety

9. A record of partnership working

11. Prior experience in a clinical leadership role (e.g. clinical lead, network lead)
