We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Band 7 Physiotherapist to lead and deliver high-quality service within our new state-of-the-art Orthopaedic Centre.
The post holder will work within the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre, a purpose-built elective hub delivering hip and knee arthroplasty across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including referrals from Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. The centre supports elective orthopaedic services for HHFT, including joint replacement and day-case surgery, and is recognised for its expertise in same-day discharge pathways and elective care efficiency.

Main duties of the job
·Providing clinical leadership within a defined therapy team ensuring your team delivers the highest standard of care across the enhanced recovery program.
·Being a mentor and role model, inspiring and supporting clinical staff whilst managing the development of therapy staff and other non-clinical staff/ students.
·Champion excellence in patient care – Drive improvements through service development, monitor standards of practice, implement policy and policy changes within your clinical area, ensuring patients receive top quality care that meets and exceeds national standards.
·Creating a positive patient journey – Make sure that patients receive an exceptional experience by embedding up to date evidence-based practice and innovations.
·Investigate adverse incidents, implement solutions, and ensure lessons are learned and shared to make the clinical environment safer and more effective.
·Taking the lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner – This includes therapy Pre-Assessment, pre-admission, ward admission, orthopaedic and education follow up clinic (OEFU).
·Leading and participating in the delivery of a 7-day, extended hours (coverage 8am – 8pm) therapy service, providing a high standard of advanced clinical assessment, treatment and advice to patients who may have complex clinical needs

Training and qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Degree/Diploma in relevant profession
2. HCPC registration
3. Evidence of Continued Professional Development including reflective practice, in-service training and courses attended. Clinical governance gained
Desirable criteria
4. Recognised post-graduate qualifications eg. MSc or equivalent experience
5. Member of relevant professional body, CSP
Experience
Essential criteria
6. Proven experience at Band 6 level including inpatient Orthopaedics and MSK.
7. Knowledge & experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of Orthopaedic patients demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
8. Experience of supervising junior staff members / students including performance management and managing difficult conversions
9. Experience of Teaching in a clinical setting
Desirable criteria
10. Previous experience at Band 7 level with an Orthopaedic bias
11. Experience of operational team management
12. Experience of using research methodology
Skills
Essential criteria
13. Proven experience in delivering service development program
14. Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession and service
15. Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate mixture of clinical and managerial duties appropriately.
16. Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities – including ability to cope with working in a stressful and unpredictable environment
Desirable criteria
17. Competent IT and presentation skills
18. Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for therapy services including experience of quality issues and audit

Essential criteria
19. Ability to travel between AWMH (Andover), BNHH (Basingstoke) and RHCH (Winchester) sites as required at short notice
20. Able to perform evening (8am – 8pm) and weekend duties as a core part of the role
