* Job Title: Assistant Stylist (Trainee Dog Groomer)
* Salary: £12.21/hour + Commission (subject to targets)
* Contract Type: Permanent | Full-Time (39 hours/week)
Purpose of the Role
Join the vibrant Groom Room team at Pets at Home in Telford as an Assistant Stylist, where you’ll help deliver top-tier grooming services and pet care. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about animals and eager to grow in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare dogs for grooming using safe handling techniques
* Assist with clipping, bathing, and pre-grooming procedures
* Deliver excellent customer service and pet care advice
* Maintain salon cleanliness and safety standards
* Work flexibly to support busy periods, holidays, and absences
* Participate in training and development programs, including “Earn As You Learn”
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Preferred:
* Experience handling dogs in a professional grooming or pet care setting
* Background in customer-facing roles
* Familiarity with target-driven environments
Required:
* Passion for pets and delivering great service
* Flexibility to work varied shifts across the week
* Willingness to complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of training to become a Stylist
* 28 days paid leave, rising to 33 after 2 years
