We're currently recruiting a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our client's team based in Southampton. This is a varied and active role - ideal for someone who thrives on practical work, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to be part of a supportive and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out scheduled servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers, ensuring compliance with DVSA and manufacturer standards.
Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections, performing quality checks and ensuring all documentation is accurately completed.
Attend roadside breakdowns and call-outs, providing safe on-site repair solutions or arranging vehicle recovery.
Manage parts inventory and workshop records, ordering necessary parts and maintaining detailed job logs.
Uphold high standards of workshop safety, cleanliness, and professionalism, including PPE use and adherence to health & safety regulations
Ideal Candidate:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, City & Guilds, or similar - apprentice-trained individuals with proven hands-on experience are very welcome
Valid HGV (LGV) driving licence, with a full UK licence held for at least 1 year; ability to safely drive company vehicles around depots or yards is essential
Own reliable transport for commuting to the workshop and various job locations.
Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional attitude in all client interactions
Strong understanding of manual handling and heavy lifting procedures, including use of mechanical aids to prevent injury
