Job Summary:
Providing technical support, advising and assisting site-based staff to enable installation work to progress to full completion.
Key duties & responsibilities:
* Carry out all duties related to the commissioning and testing of all Cubic equipment, including gates, passenger validators, remote monitoring, help points, firewalls, switches, overhead displays, retail terminals, remote servers, back offices, and bus devices.
* Install or remove devices as required, and terminate cables when necessary.
* Conduct commissioning and testing according to Cubic engineering instructions and specific drawings.
* Perform surveys before, during, and after installation.
* Provide technical support and assistance to site staff, sometimes remotely, to ensure timely completion of installation work.
* Attend site to fault-find and resolve installation or maintenance issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
* Coordinate with third-party fire contractors to enable and test station fire systems for certification and sign-off.
* Conduct Site Acceptance Testing in the presence of the client to facilitate station handover into full operation.
* Complete all commissioning paperwork for site handover packs.
* Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Cubic’s Quality Management System, and other relevant policies and procedures.
* Maintain security in accordance with organizational policies.
* Perform other duties as requested.
Key requirements
Qualifications
Essential:
* GCSEs or equivalent education or experience.
* HNC/ONC or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering desirable.
Desirable:
* Fibre – City & Guilds certification.
* First Aid training.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
* Experience working in a high-technology engineering environment in a similar role.
* Good understanding of serial and Ethernet communications and Internet Protocols.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, SQL Server (preferred), basic file handling, DOS, and HyperTerminal.
* Technical expertise in testing, design, development, and operations.
* Experience interpreting civil/site drawings.
* Experience working on-site.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
