Day-to-day of the role: Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. Help in the planning and development of menus, incorporating seasonal and fresh ingredients. Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring effective communication and cohesive team work. Manage kitchen inventory and procurement of supplies. Maintain health and safety standards in the kitchen. Handle any issues that arise in the kitchen and act as the Head Chef's second in command. Ensure dishes are prepared and presented in a timely manner. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar environment, preferably in a gastro pub or restaurant focusing on fresh food. Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Creativity and passion for food and culinary arts. Culinary school diploma or equivalent hands-on experience.
