The role
As a Compliance Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock is establishing a new “Safe to Operate” team at HMNB Clyde. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Compliance Engineer to join this team.
“Safe to Operate” means having safe and compliant infrastructure, assets and equipment and in conjunction with appropriate processes, and suitably qualified and experienced personnel, can deliver our operations and outputs and meet the requirements of the customer.
Day to day, you’ll be working with other specialists in “Safe to Operate” team receive and review the information regarding the buildings in the Asset Management Plan (AMP).
1. Develop and then undertake specific inspections of the buildings systems to determine adequacy of state against relevant good practice.
2. Flag any legislative or health and safety shortfalls immediately with Babcock.
3. Complete gap analysis report on findings.
4. Provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.
5. Review and assess adequacy of maintenance, defect, performance/operability etc and together with the actual condition, assess status and whether the system/building is safe to operate
6. Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and will be based at our Clyde, Faslane site with hybrid working from home arrangements available.
Essential experience of the Compliance Engineer
7. Have a good understanding of rules and regulations
8. Previous experience as a Compliance Engineer in an industrial setting
9. Have broad and deep knowledge of the management of high risk activities and asset best practice in a highly regulated, high-hazard industrial workplace
10. IOSH Risk management/IOSH Managing Safely qualified and have operational experience
Qualifications for the Compliance Engineer:
• HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Fire Management)
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
