We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone. Telford STaRS, a partnership between Inclusion, Aquarius and Willowdene, is the first point of contact for anyone experiencing problems related to drug or alcohol use in Telford and Wrekin. The service is free and confidential, serving both children and young people 10 and adults 18. And, right now, we need a flexible individual with a good understanding of the functional model of substance abuse to join our friendly team. Your challenge? To identify and engage with local communities, groups, agencies and individuals to assess alcohol and drug related harms and the need for appropriate interventions, information and training to increase the understanding and reduce the harm related to alcohol and drug misuse. Developing productive working relationships and sustaining arrangements for joint working between workers and specialist and non-specialist agencies will be key, as will promoting people’s equality, diversity and rights throughout the advice, training and interventions offered. You’ll also need the ability to recognise the indications of substance misuse and screen, assess, provide appropriate support and interventions and refer people on as necessary. Well-versed in providing long-term support that’s not time-limited and flexible enough to meet the changing and complex needs of the client group, you’re adept at providing written assessments and keeping records too. What’s more, you’re an energetic self-starter who works well within a team and on your own initiative, have experience of providing training and above all a genuinely sympathetic approach. Aquarius Action Projects is a long-established charity (since 1982) based in Birmingham with a national reach of contracts and Partnerships. Aquarius is a subsidiary of Waythrough – a large charity that specialises in mental health, alcohol, drugs and related areas. Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support. We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people. Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Richmond Fellowship’ or ‘Aquarius’ (our subsidiary charity in the Midlands). Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate. Thanks for bearing with us – and don’t forget to check out the Waythrough jobs on the Humankind job site https://peoplekind.my.salesforce-sites.com/recruit/ Aquarius Aquarius is a subsidiary of Waythrough. Aquarius is a Midlands-based charity supporting individuals to overcome the harms caused by drugs, alcohol and gambling. Aquarius has always held the view that people we support could resolve their problems with support and guidance and that people have the ability to find their own solutions to their problems. Our roles across the organisation include Practitioners and Administrators as well as Team Managers. Find out more at www.aquarius.org.uk
