The Defence Awarding Organisation (DAO) develops and awards Ofqual accredited vocational qualifications for use by armed forces personnel and MOD Civil Servants, in recognition of defence training.
As a member of the DAO team, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of MOD, DAO, and associated external, processes and practice. You will work closely with the wider DAO team, and in collaboration with external business partners.
In support of the Qualification Development Manager (Position 1) or the Compliance Manager (Position 2), you will collate and scrutinise materials to support:
* (Position 1) qualification development, review, and withdrawal projects
or
* (Position 2) External Quality Assurance reviews, maladministration and malpractice notifications and reasonable adjustment notifications.
In addition, working alongside the DAO’s other Business Coordinators, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and update of data to support the learner awarding process on internal and external platforms.
Working in a regulated environment, the successful candidate will be organised, detail orientated and have excellent communication skills.
A background in education is desirable but not essential, and there are opportunities to gain Level 3 and 4 qualifications to support the role.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The successful candidate will have responsibility for, but not limited to, the following areas:
Position 1:
Supporting the development, review, and withdrawal processes for DAO qualifications, including the collation and review of materials.
Position 2:
Supporting the DAO Quality Assurance Visit programme (EQA and CQV) and ensuring timely reporting and recording of compliance issues and actions.
Both Positions:
Maintaining the DAO Qualification Management System (QMS), ensuring accuracy of data, and in accordance with legislation, guidance and procedure.
Maintaining the Ofqual and DAO website in support of qualification and compliance activity.
Manage the learner administration process, including registration, claim and certification.
Maintenance of the DAO SharePoint logs & trackers; maintain own knowledge of these systems following associated guidelines and protocol.
Provide guidance and support to DAO Awarding Centre staff and enquirers on qualification matters.
Completing tasks in accordance with current regulations and supporting DAO Qualifications Team with maintenance of all Qualification policy and procedures.
Support the DAO Management Team in collation of information in respect of the engagement of, and payments for, external partners.
Collation of data to support statistical reports, including but not exclusively, the Ofqual Quarterly return.
Any other ad hoc requests directed by line management, including cover in the event of other Business Coordinator absence.
Undertake learning and development and upskilling as required.
Person specification
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Good working knowledge and experience of using, Microsoft 365 applications: Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Word and Teams.
Proven organisational skills. Able to balance competing demands and prioritise tasks, delivering outcomes on time and to a required standard.
High level of attention to detail.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships within the organisation and with partner organisations
