Early Career Teacher (Maths) Contract Type: Full-time Permanent Work Start Date: 01/09/2026 Location: Enfield, North London Salary: £37,870 per annum Hours of Work: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Salary will be paid at M1 in line with the Outer London Main Pay Scale and is suitable for an Early Career Teacher beginning their teaching career. About the Role We are recruiting on behalf of an Outstanding (Ofsted) rated secondary school in Enfield, North London, seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (Maths) to join their successful Mathematics department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ECT looking to begin their teaching career in a supportive and well-structured secondary school environment. The school offers a strong ECT induction programme, mentoring, and professional development, making it an excellent place for new teachers to develop their classroom practice. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop strong numeracy, reasoning and problem-solving skills, while contributing to a positive and high-achieving learning environment. Essential Requirements To be considered for this role, applicants must have: • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be currently completing teacher training leading to QTS • A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Mathematics • Excellent communication and organisational skills • Commitment to professional development and reflective teaching practice Desirable • Experience teaching during PGCE or teacher training placements • Interest in Maths enrichment or intervention programmes • Ability to contribute positively to the Mathematics department and wider school community Key Responsibilities • Plan and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. • Support students in developing strong numeracy, reasoning and problem-solving skills. • Prepare students effectively for GCSE Mathematics examinations. • Differentiate lessons to support students of varying abilities. • Use assessment data to monitor progress and support attainment. • Participate fully in the ECT induction programme, including mentoring and CPD. • Work collaboratively with experienced colleagues to develop strong classroom practice. • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic achievement. • Support students in building confidence and independence in Mathematics. • Attend department meetings, CPD sessions, parents’ evenings and school activities, and contribute to Maths enrichment or intervention programmes.
