An opportunity to learn and develop craft skills, cooking Anglo-French cuisine from scratch under the supervision of senior staff. You will find yourself engaged with food preparation and service from the beginning. Other responsibilities involve managing and rotating stock; cleaning and record keeping. While always supervised, you can rapidly aspire to run a section.
What will the apprentice be doing?
To prepare fresh food for our customers.
Use fresh produce and local ingredients to craft excellent meals.
Gain an understanding of day-to-day kitchen activities and how you fit into them.
Maintain excellent hygiene procedures.
Carry out cleaning tasks including washing dishes and sweeping.
Assist with stock and inventory management.
As an apprentice, initially you won't have set responsibilities, as you'll learn all areas of the kitchen. This starts with daily prep and desserts and as you progress within the kitchen you will be moved around as you get to learn the menus.
As a team all kitchen staff have duties, which include the cleaning down at the end of service.
The right applicant needs to be eager to learn, passionate about cooking, reliable with a good work ethic and a can-do attitude.
To become an apprentice, you must:
be 16 or over
not already be in full-time education
As an apprentice you'll:
complete a level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship standard
have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
learn and train for a specific job
get paid and receive holiday leave
get experience in a real job
study for at least 20% of your working hours
complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
be on a career path with lots of future potential
be entitled to a TOTUM membership
