Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and determined, forward‑thinking pharmacy technician to join our clinical pharmacy team.
The successful candidate will participate in the delivery of a patient‑focused, clinical service to medical patients and surgical patients within the Trust. There will be opportunities to lead on quality improvement and service evaluation projects, as well as to develop clinically through vocational and accredited training courses and sessions.
The post is based at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, but the holder will work closely with colleagues at all sites to support continuing patient care and flow. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the weekend rota and cover accuracy checking slots.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe and high‑quality patient care.
* Ensure safe delivery of medicines management related to medication within the Trust.
* Support acute medicine and emergency care colleagues with appropriate advice.
* Provide technical support on pharmaceutical matters, medicines management issues and medicines legislation within a delegated area on a routine basis, also to specialist areas such as ward/clinical settings and aseptic services.
* Deliver on a delegated area of responsibility on a departmental basis (Health and Safety, management of patients on clozapine, staff rosters, over‑labelling or emergency drug cupboard).
* Participate in weekend pharmacy service and relevant bank holiday arrangements.
* Role‑model compassionate and inclusive leadership, engaging, enabling and empowering others, and facilitating team working across organisational boundaries.
* Cover accuracy checking slots and participate in weekend rota.
* Lead on quality improvement and service evaluation projects.
* Potential to develop clinically through vocational and accredited training courses and sessions.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered pharmacy technician or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in clinical pharmacy or a similar setting.
* Knowledge of medicines legislation and pharmacy practice.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Meets Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) subject to statutory pre‑employment checks.

Additional Information
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust holds a sponsorship licence; applicants must meet UKVI eligibility requirements. Successful applicants will be required to provide their own DBS certification, with payment deducted from the first monthly pay.
