Do you have experience in giving accessible advice on complex cases? Are you skilled at presenting advice content online, using Drupal? Are you organised and can manage a varied advice caseload?

Mencap are recruiting for a Learning Disability Caseworker (LDC) to give end to end advice casework on welfare benefits, housing, health, and community care to people with a learning disability, their families, carers, and professionals working with them. Some of this advice will be live caseload, and some will be created, reviewed and added to the Mencap website by you. You will be responsible for keeping your advice casework records and the Information and Advice Hub content up to date and accurate.

The Learning Disability Caseworker role can be based anywhere in England, with travel to events and casework venues and occasionally to our Peterborough office. This role will be full time (37.5 hours) on a fixed term contract until September 2027.

We are an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation and we particularly welcome and encourage disabled applicants and those from the Black and Asian communities to apply for the role as they are under-represented within the workforce. Mencap is committed to providing excellent quality information and advice casework, enabling people with a learning disability and their families to access critical services and support. The casework service is outcomes focused, and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the positive impact that their casework has on individuals and families.

Key skills for a Learning Disability Caseworker

* Level 3 qualification in giving advice or an equivalent relevant qualification in a specific advice area
* Strong communicator with analytical skills
* Experience of working in an outcomes and impact focused advice service
* Experience of working with a CRM system and keeping clear advice records
* Excellent IT skills including Drupal and the use of Microsoft Office tools
* Ability to spot high risk cases and put in safeguarding alerts
* Well-developed listening and diagnostic skills
* In depth knowledge of social care and the welfare benefits system
* The ability to communicate clearly in another language is desirable, but not essential

This is not an exhaustive list of the role; please read the job description for full details of the skills and experience required. If this sounds like the role for you, please apply now with an up-to-date CV outlining your relevant skills and experience. This vacancy will close on Sunday 14th September and interviews will take place shortly afterwards, on Microsoft Teams. If you need any more information, please call our recruitment team on 01733 873765. JOB ID: 34424. This role is funded by the National Lottery.
