The Role
Support post to commence 19th August 2026.
* Provide pastoral support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties/disabilities, emotional/behaviour issues and other complex needs.
* Support students' additional needs including personal care, toileting, mobility, behaviour management.
* Support students during breaks and lunchtimes to develop their social skills and to access college facilities such as canteen and library.
* Contribute to the initial, baseline and continuing assessment of students and their progress including transition.
* Facilitate flexible support and development of learning opportunities for the Department’s students in classes, at external venues, infilling into mainstream and other environments.
The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well‑established Foundation Learning department.
The Foundation Learning Department is seeking an individual who holds GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade A*–C (9–4) or equivalent. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of supporting students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
You should display the values, attitudes and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality, diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
Hours: 29.6 hours per week, term time only. Working hours for the role will be 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday.
Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 7 to 11 – pro‑rated to £25,951 to £28,634 per annum. Actual salary £18,154.08 to £20,030.98 per annum.
