Overview
Band 7 Podiatrist – part‑time (4 days per week) – to deliver progressive, community‑based podiatry services within Surrey Downs Health & Care.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support a podiatry team across community clinics and domiciliary settings, maintaining high standards of care and ensuring effective service delivery.
* Identify, evaluate, plan and implement service redesign and related policies, working with the podiatry clinical lead and operational manager.
* Act as the clinical lead for nail surgery and other advanced podiatric therapies, providing specialist diagnostic assessment, treatment, and surgical intervention where appropriate.
* Lead and facilitate continuous professional development (CPD) activities for the team and participate in wider service‑wide CPD initiatives.
* Lead clinical audits, research projects and service pilots to support evidence‑based practice and the development of clinical standards.
* Provide early intervention, maintain patient mobility and independence, and prevent disability across complex medical conditions.
* Ensure comprehensive and accurate record‑keeping, infection control compliance and risk management for all patient encounters.
* Supervise and mentor students, newly qualified podiatrists and podiatry assistants, including teaching on anaesthetic administration and surgical procedures.
* Support the team through holiday cover, emergency situations during surgical sessions and domiciliary visits, ensuring coverage and continuity of care.
Qualifications
* Experience in community podiatry services and case management of high‑risk patients.
* Proficiency in advanced podiatric techniques, including nail surgery, wound debridement, gait analysis and vascular assessment.
* Strong organisational, communication and self‑directed working skills.
* Knowledge of clinical governance, audit, and evidence‑based practice.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and attainment of statutory CPD hours.
