Energy Advisor – Environment Agency
We are looking to recruit a senior advisor to support the regulation of the energy sector, focusing on combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries. This fixed‑term role lasts up to 2 years and requires experience in energy sector regulation.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert support, technical guidance and training to internal and external stakeholders.
* Develop strategy for the energy sector and produce regulatory tools that support environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects.
* Work with Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other industry players.
* Respond to incidents and support business continuity during incidents.
Desired Qualifications & Skills
* Experience in regulating the energy sector, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
* Strong technical and regulatory knowledge, especially around control measures for emissions to air.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, operators, regulators, government bodies, trade bodies and academia.
* Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people and encourage diversity awareness.
* Team collaboration skills and ability to meet common goals.
Competence Requirements
* Legislative Knowledge: Apply statutory environmental and technical requirements to protect the Environment Agency and the environment.
* Works in Teams: Work cooperatively with senior advisors covering a wide portfolio of work.
* Builds and Sustains Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
