Band 3 Therapy Assistant
Trauma and Orthopaedic Team
Full Time (37.5 hours / week) (part time considered)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Team, supporting the delivery of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
The ability to work well within a team environment is essential and the candidate should be able to communicate confidently and effectively in both face to face and telephone situations.
Work is delegated and supervised by professional staff and the successful applicants will undergo an induction and receive ongoing training and support. You will be working alongside qualified therapy staff, student staff, other experienced Therapy Assistants as well as all other members of the MDT.
Regular supervision and appraisal will be undertaken with a designated supervisor to ensure personal, team and trust objectives are met and that you achieve your full potential and full job satisfaction.
The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.
All posts are subjected to medicals and enhanced DBS checks. Please note that if you are successful, you will be expected to pay for the cost of the enhanced DBS disclosure.
An essential part of the role will be to participate in the active treatment of patients and therefore a good level of fitness and dexterity will be necessary.
Other responsibilities of the successful candidate will include administrative duties, housekeeping duties, managing equipment stocks, ordering ADL equipment for patient discharge and working collaboratively with other professionals and local organisations.
The successful candidate must be a self‑motivated individual, who has the ability to work unsupervised (following training) but equally demonstrate the ability to work as a team player. A flexible approach to day‑to‑day tasks is essential in order to meet the demands of the service which is provided across 7 days a week. The successful candidate will work over 5 days and participate in weekend working on a rota system. Experience of working with therapists in a hospital/rehabilitation setting treating adults / older people is desirable.
Computer data entry and IT literacy skills are essential. Ideally candidates should be qualified to NVQ level 3 or have equivalent experience.
