Job Summary

East Dunbartonshire Council are looking to appoint a Trainee Facilities Assistant, Catering as part of a Scottish Government funded work experience programme.

Candidate should have an understanding of a good work ethic and be willing to work with others as part of a team. Trainees will deliver a catering service for all service users by carrying out simple cooking and preparation of food and beverages and carry out cash handling duties, as requested, to ensure compliance of council policy and procedures. There will be a requirement to undertake duties related to clearing, cleaning and washing-up to ensure Food Safety and Health and Safety Legislation is met at all times.

Candidates should have a genuine interest and use this opportunity to gain essential experience. Previous experience is not essential as training will be provided. The preferred candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

This is a temporary role for 6 months for EDC residents who are unemployed or low income parents with dependent children with barriers to employment. Eligibility criteria will apply and vacancy conditional dependant on funding.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act,, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

East Dunbartonshire Council will meet the cost of the check.
