Mechanical Inspector
📍Poole
Mechanical Inspector Pay: £17.50 – £18.20 per hour
If you’re the kind of person who can spot a tight tolerance issue from 10 paces, this one’s for you.
This engineering company quietly leads the way in complex precision manufacturing for high-end projects.
As a Mechanical Inspector, you’ll be at the sharp end of quality control, making sure parts, assemblies, and finished products meet the drawings (and not just “close enough”).
You’ll work with 3D laser scanning kit, CMM arms, and the usual range of measuring tools, like: micrometres, callipers, gauges, the lot. Training on their specific systems is provided, but you’ll need to bring solid inspection experience and proper attention to detail.
Mechanical Inspector Day-to-day:
Inspect machined, fabricated, and surface-treated components
Use laser scanning and manual CMM tools to check accuracy
Log non-conformities and work with production teams to fix root causes
Support first article inspections and keep quality records tidy
Get hands-on across multiple manufacturing cells
What you’ll need as a Mechanical Inspector:
Experience as a Mechanical Inspector or similar in precision manufacturing
Confident reading engineering drawings and using measuring equipment
A cool head and a keen eye for detail
Flexible approach, able to jump between projects as needed
Why the Mechanical Inspector role worth a look:
You’ll be joining a stable, well-respected engineering team where quality actually matters, not just when auditors visit. The contract is ongoing, the pay is solid, and the work is interesting.
