An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, part-time Senior Occupational Therapist to join CMHT, under the direction of the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist and Professional Lead Occupational Therapist.
The post holder will be required to use a range of occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support participation in activities that children and young people need and want to.
The post holder will work within an MDT to provide assessment and wellbeing focused support. The role requires the ability to co-ordinate care for individuals with occupational needs and to undertake comprehensive care and treatment planning assessments.
You will work with a full MDT providing assessment and emotional wellbeing focussed support for children, young people and caregivers accessing this service. There is excellent links with education, local authority, local third sector and community resources in order to promote opportunities to engage in meaningful occupation.
The post is part of a wider network and professional structure of occupational therapists across CAMHS and the Family and Therapies Division, with opportunities for CPD. A variety of specialist training opportunities are available in the health board and the OT service is committed to student education and practice development to ensure best practice standards.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments, including in home, education and community settings.
Carry out and interpret a range of occupational therapy standardised and non-standardised assessments.
Independently plan, implement, evaluate and review treatment plans on an individual and group basis.
Actively engage carers/families in the therapeutic process, motivating and supporting them to take responsibility for decision making and goal setting
Work autonomously to manage and prioritise own caseload.
Carry out role of supervisor to support staff and educator to practice placement students.
Collaborate with others to modify and develop the service in line with changing circumstances and needs.
Function in a multi-disciplinary team identifying unique skills of the occupational therapist.
Maintain and actively develop close working relationships with colleagues across disciplines and agencies e.g. voluntary, statutory and private.
Assess and manage risk. Carry out written risk assessments.
Undertake generic duties to enable the service to function effectively such as mental health assessments and Care Co-ordination.
