Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices. We are looking to recruit experienced Archaeologists (Fieldworks Supervisor or Fieldwork Project Officers) to support our growing team and supervise fieldwork on projects of all scales.
Wardell Armstrong has been providing expert archaeological and heritage services for over 25 years, demonstrating effective and commercially aware advice to clients throughout the UK. Our facilities in Carlisle and Bury St Edmunds include finds analysis, palaeoenvironmental processing, post-excavation analysis, publication, and outreach.
The role
Our Senior/Principal Archaeologists support report writing, complete smaller reports with team support, and contribute to larger scale reporting. Candidates should have or be willing to develop their report writing skills, have a working understanding of Harris Matrix software, and interpret findings on site.
We have projects across the UK and Wales. For work requiring site presence, we offer an excellent subsistence package, travel allowance, and single occupancy accommodation. When not on site, employees work on a hybrid home/office basis.

About you
Successful candidates will have practical site supervision experience, a good understanding of Risk Assessment, experience in commercial archaeology, and a degree in Archaeology or equivalent. A driving license and own vehicle are essential. CIfA membership at PCIfA or ACIfA level and SSSTS qualification are highly advantageous.
