This is a new post available for 12 months but up to 24 months starting in September 2024 (or earlier if the successful candidate is available) which provides an exciting opportunity for a senior trainee in Gastroenterology or other suitable applicant. It has been established to support the growing demands for endoscopy in the Health Board whilst providing dedicated training in specialist advanced procedures and opportunities for involvement in world leading endoscopy based research as Research Fellow with the CONSCOP2 and FORE-AI trials.
We have strong links with other training centres in Japan and Europe and can facilitate a 2 week advanced endoscopy travel fellowship towards the end of the 12 month period. Suitable applicants should be competent (JAG accredited or equivalent) in diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. The post is aimed at endoscopists who wish to gain advanced skills and experience. It would suit those who aspire, for example, to become bowel cancer screening colonoscopists or consultant endoscopists and be in the forefront of AI in Endoscopy training and research.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further research leading to publications / qualifications on an endoscopy based project with Prof Dolwani that is already funded (supported through NIHR). It may suit individuals either post CCT or towards the latter half of their training provided they are JAG accredited as above.
Main duties of the job
The Advanced Clinical fellow will be required to perform clinical work undertaking Endoscopy lists.
The appointee will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, undertake clinics and inpatient work.
The appointee will be expected to undertake audit, and be encouraged to take on clinical research projects depending on the interests of the successful applicant.
