Scheduling Coordinator

We have 2 exciting opportunities for an enthusiastic, motivated, customer/patient-focused individual to join our team within the Outpatient Appointments Service Department.

The post is for 37.5 hours a week, with the ideal candidate able to work Monday to Friday. This role will challenge your skills and allow you to progress and develop professionally in a friendly and supportive team.


Main duties of the job

We are responsible for scheduling outpatient services across multiple hospital and community sites in South Tyneside and Sunderland. We are based at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

You must have good administration skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer service experience, and be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office.

Experience of prioritising patients using a waiting list will be of benefit.

You will have attention to detail and the ability to prioritise incoming work, reporting to the Outpatients Scheduling Manager as necessary. With a strong emphasis on customer service, you will have good interpersonal skills.

You will play an essential role within the team, helping to maintain standards and improve the service for the benefit of patients and clinical teams. You will be willing to adapt to change and learn new skills, with a good knowledge of office procedures, organisational and communication skills, delivering high-quality administrative services and customer care.

Job responsibilities

To coordinate outpatient scheduling processes for a directorate or multiple specialties on a day-to-day basis.

To ensure that appropriate procedures and Trust policies are followed at all times and that national standards and RTT performance targets are met.

To comply with the Trust's vision, values, and behavioural compact.

Person Specification


Physical Skills


Experience

* Vocational experience working in an NHS booking office
* Familiarity with medical terminology related to elective referrals on RTT pathways
* Experience working in a customer-focused/service environment
* IT skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases


Skills and Knowledge

* Proven interpersonal and communication skills
* Effective organisational skills
* Able to work independently
* Use of Meditech PAS, NHS e-Referral System


Qualifications

* GCSE English C/4 or above, or equivalent
* Level 2 qualification in administration or relevant subject, or equivalent vocational experience providing working knowledge of:
* Prioritising patients using a waiting list
* Basic medical terminology related to referrals for elective patients on RTT pathway
* Knowledge of Meditech
