A successful biopharmaceutical company is looking for a talented Senior Scientist to join its in vitro immunology team, supporting the discovery and early development of innovative therapies for immune mediated inflammatory diseases.
About the Role
This team plays a key role in advancing both small molecules and biologics from early discovery through to development. As a Senior Scientist, you’ll bring strong scientific expertise and a hands-on approach in the lab, contributing directly to ongoing programmes.
The role is centred around experimental delivery, scientific rigour, and collaborative project support. You’ll design, execute, and interpret in vitro studies, generating high-quality data that drives critical project decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing, planning, and executing in vitro studies for target identification, validation, and translational pharmacology
* Applying technical expertise in immunology models to ensure robust and relevant experimental design
* Testing and validating small molecule and biologic candidates
* Establishing, optimising, and validating in vitro systems, including managing outsourced work with CRO partners
* Reviewing and interpreting complex datasets to support project decision-making
* Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to progress discovery and early development programmes
* Generating and presenting high-quality data within agreed timelines
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reports and presentations
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll report to the Associate Director – In Vitro Immunology and be part of a collaborative, high-performing scientific team. The role involves close interaction with project leaders, cross-functional teams, and external partners including CROs and academic collaborators.
What We’re Looking For
* PhD (or equivalent) in Immunology or a related discipline, with postdoctoral or industry experience in drug discovery
* Strong hands-on experience with in vitro immunology models, particularly in inflammatory and immune mediated diseases
* Expertise in:
* Primary and immortalised cell culture
* Aseptic techniques and immune cell isolation
* Innate immunity assays and complex co-culture systems
* Flow cytometry, ELISA/multiplex assays, Western blotting
* Proven ability to design robust experiments and interpret complex data
* A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with strong attention to data quality and scientific rigour
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
This role is offered on a 12-month contract with potential for extension.
