About the team…
This is an exciting time to join the Bracknell Forest Library Service as we look to develop our libraries into hubs for our communities.
You will join a team focused on delivering our core offers and a wide-ranging events programme, whilst looking for opportunities to expand and improve our services, particularly the digital and ICT support we provide to our customers.
Your 'home' library will be Bracknell Library, but you will work across all libraries in our borough. You must be able to work flexibly and travel between branches. Your normal working week will be 37 hours. Occasionally, you may be required to support Saturday workshops or events, for which you will be remunerated.
Typical weekly hours:
* Week 1: Monday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Tuesday 9:00am to 7:00pm, Wednesday off, Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm
* Weeks 2 and 3: Monday 9:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday 9:00am to 7:00pm, Wednesday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Key responsibilities…
* Keeping up to date with digital and ICT developments to ensure the Library Service leverages all suitable opportunities to improve services.
* Supporting customers in the use of ICT/digital resources, assisting with queries, and providing user training sessions.
* Marketing and promoting the Library Service to increase visits, including growing our social media presence and outreach activities, while proactively seeking new partnerships.
* Seeking alternative funding sources, e.g., from the Arts Council, and preparing funding applications.
* Providing high-quality service at all service points within Bracknell Forest Borough Council, including staffing the Reference Desk at Bracknell Library and handling enquiries in person, by phone, and digitally.
