Position: General Maintenance and Fleet Tech
Location: Portland Red Cross Blood Center, Portland, ME
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm, with flexible hours and on-call duties. Valid driver’s license required.
Benefits: $1,500 sign-on bonus; up to $8,000 annual on-call pay.

Main facility: 16,000 sq ft; Fleet: 26 vehicles across 3 facilities.
What You Need to Know
Under supervision, perform repairs and maintenance on facilities, machinery, and equipment across trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and machine repair. Conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and support volunteer development. Comply with all safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair facilities, including patching, painting, and structural repairs.
* Install and service mechanical equipment like boilers, chillers, and pumps.
* Estimate project costs, requisition supplies, and possibly plant and tend gardens.
* Drive vehicles to various locations as needed.
* Ensure all work adheres to safety procedures.
Qualifications
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years of related experience in trades like painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical.
* Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; truck/bus driving experience is a plus.
* Basic computer skills preferred.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights using ladders.
Physical Requirements
Regular use of hands, reaching, talking, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, and working in various environmental conditions.
