Role description
We are seeking Engineering Managers to support the Nuclear delivery programme of Conventional Island, Heat Sink and Balance of Plant. The role involves coordinating activities across the Technical Directorate and delivery programme, ensuring seamless integration of technical expertise to meet objectives.
Conventional Island (CI) refers to the part of a power plant that directly generates electricity, including systems like the boiler, turbine, generator and condenser. Balance of Plant (BOP) encompasses supporting infrastructure and systems that ensure the plant operates efficiently. The Heat Sink Programme (HS or HSK) is responsible for designing, delivering and assuring cooling and heat‑rejection systems essential to nuclear safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate a high‑performing multidisciplinary engineering team drawn from the Technical Directorate, Delivery Programmes and Nuclear Services. Manage direct reports – a growing team within the Technical Directorate.
Provide proactive leadership, deliver clear direction, expert guidance and timely support to enable individuals and teams to meet demanding project objectives.
Set and reinforce expected project behaviours, culture and standards, creating an environment where accountability, collaboration and excellence are the norm.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
* Proven experience in engineering management within large‑scale infrastructure projects
* Effective negotiator, skilled in reaching counsel and consensus with senior stakeholders
* Passion for delivering high‑quality solutions in complex, fast‑paced environments
* Proven ability to build and lead diverse teams
* Expertise in design processes and technical design systems
* Experience in complex, high‑safety regulatory environments
* Skilled in engineering systems, documentation and nuclear specifications (e.g., BTR, BTS)
* French language speaking would be advantageous
