I am seeking an experienced Health and Safety professional to lead the development and implementation of a health and safety strategy across a diverse and multi-site organisation. This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape the Health and Safety function from the ground up, embedding a proactive safety culture and ensuringpliance with all relevant legislation and best practices.
Your new role
1. Develop and deliver a robust health and safety strategy aligned with organisational goals, ensuring a consistent approach across all sites and operations.
2. Set up the Health and Safety department, including defining its structure, recruiting key personnel, and establishing policies, procedures, and systems.
3. Create and maintainprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the organisation’s varied activities and environments.
4. Lead risk assessments and audits across all areas of the organisation, identifying hazards and implementing effective control measures.
5. Design and deliver training programmes to promote health and safety awareness andpetence at all levels of the organisation.
6. Ensure fullpliance with UK health and safety legislation and industry standards. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
7. Oversee the investigation of incidents and near-misses, ensuring lessons are learned, and preventative measures are implemented.
8. Work collaboratively with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory bodies to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
9. Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within aplex or multi-site organisation.
10. Chartered Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional accreditation.
11. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
12. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
13. Demonstrated ability to build and lead a department or function.
14. Excellentmunication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
15. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to implementation.
