Cleaning Operative (Day Shift) We welcome applications for this support post to commence as soon as possible The Role To ensure that all College grounds, entrances, circulation spaces and social spaces are environmentally friendly and aesthetically welcoming. To build up a good relationship with the students and encourage them to respect their environment. The main duties and responsibilities of this role include: Litter pick designated hard standing areas daily, including car parks Clear litter from external social areas daily Empty external bins daily and take rubbish to large external bins Check, tidy and remove waste from designated open learning areas and study areas Respond to urgent cleaning requests as necessary (communicated via phone/radio) Remove graffiti from external areas as requested by the Cleaning Manager or the Estates Department Clean an allocated area as designated by the Cleaning Supervisor, Manager or Estates Department Complete routine checks, cleaning of and topping up supplies of allocated building and sign off on tasks completed e.g. routine toilet checks Clean entrance ways (glass, frames, tracks and barrier matting) of designated buildings to ensure these are welcoming, safe and free from any hazards Collect, wash and machine dry/ hang to dry all cloths used for general cleaning by all cleaners – designated collection points to be allocated Replenish stock to cleaner’s storerooms as requested by the Cleaning Supervisor/ Manager Undertake such other cleaning duties, as may be reasonably requested by the Cleaning Supervisor/Manager/Estates Department For the full job description please see attached ‘Job Pack’. The Successful Candidate Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for a enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well established Estates department. The Estates department is looking for someone who has at least 1 years experience in a similar role and environment, ability to manager work area and time efficiently, and is able to work without direct supervision You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults. Terms and Conditions Hours : 15 hours per week, full year. This post is worked Monday to Friday during core hours of either 11:15am–2:15pm or 11:30am–2:30pm. Some flexibility is available with start and finish times, subject todiscussion and agreement with the line manager Salary : The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at point 3 (£13.45 per hour) currently pro rata to £25,949 per annum (inclusive of £1,190 per annum living wage top-up).
