<div><h3>Nursing Associate</h3><p><b>Closing date:</b> 19 June 2026</p><p>We are looking to recruit a knowledgeable, motivated and skilled Band 4 Nursing Associate who will work as part of the nursing and multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care for patients with a range of medical needs.</p><p>You will practice under indirect supervision in all areas of the medical wards, reflecting the values and principles of teamwork, proper communication and escalation as a team member.</p><p>Following a period of development and assessment, you will contribute to the assessment, planning and implementation of individual care for assigned patients under agreed pathways, ensuring safe practice and maintaining high standards of care.</p><p>You will work full time (37.5 hours a week), mainly based at St. Peters Hospital with occasional work at Ashford Hospital and other Trust sites as required.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Implement and monitor patient care following nursing care plans and patient pathways and report progress to registered practitioners.</li><li>Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and visitors.</li><li>Carry out regular observations, proper documentation, identify deteriorating patients and follow escalation procedures.</li><li>Initiate basic life support for a collapsed patient until medical help arrives.</li><li>Assist with safe transfers of patients within the wards and other departments and perform hospital transfers and handover of patient care for agreed patients.</li><li>Provide clinical skills such as 12‑lead ECG recording, peripheral cannulation, venepuncture, urinary catheterisation, minor wound dressing and closure, and oral medication administration.</li></ul><h3>Job responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with NMC standards.</li><li>Follow protocol for internal and external major incidents, including flu pandemics.</li><li>Identify and care for patients with mental health needs and vulnerable patients lacking capacity; apply knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.</li><li>Communicate professionally with service users and colleagues; inform about waiting times and care plans.</li><li>Adhere to infection prevention policies; maintain unit equipment and report issues.</li><li>Use information technology within the wards; report staff sickness/absence to the nurse in charge.</li><li>Take responsibility for professional development and support junior staff (HCAs and trainee Band 4s).</li><li>Abide by the competency framework and maintain specialist skills.</li><li>Report and manage complaints, accidents, incidents, and near misses; complete incident forms and DATIX as required.</li><li>Participate in quality and risk management initiatives (CNST, RPST, Controls Assurance).
