Are you an experienced theatre practitioner looking to advance your career?
Due to a growth in service we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Senior Registered Practitioner (Theatre Nurse or ODP) to join our AfPP accredited perioperative team as a Deputy Lead Theatre Practitioner for Orthopaedic Surgery.
You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, working primarily as a scrub practitioner but with flexibility to cover either Anaesthetics or Recovery when required.
This role is ideally suited to a senior registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) with proven experience working as a scrub practitioner in orthopaedic surgery, who is looking to progress their perioperative career to lead and mentor junior staff.
Your working hours will be 4 days per week working between Monday and Saturday 07:30 18:00. This is a 10 month fixed term contract that has the possibility of being extended or becoming a permanent role.
Main duties of the job
Role Responsibilities
As a Deputy Lead Theatre Practitioner you will:
1. Working as the lead member of the scrub team you will ensure a high standard of clinical care and safety for patients within the theatre unit.
2. To provide clinical leadership to junior staff, deputising for the deputy theatre manager when necessary.
3. Communicating effectively with other departments Sterile Services, Wards, and Imaging department to ensure efficient patient care.
4. Preparing operating and anaesthetic rooms for surgery as required. To include equipment and supplies required for specific procedures, ensuring appropriate use of resources and minimal waste.
5. Assessing patient care requirements, implementing care and evaluating outcomes.

Essential
16. Be a registered Practitioner (RN or ODP).
Desirable
17. Have a post graduate clinical qualification in a specialty or as First Assistant.
Experience

18. Have post registration clinical experience as a Recovery practitioner in an acute hospital (NHS or Private)
19. Be proficient in providing assistance during a wide range of general surgical lists.
20. Have experience in planning, organising and running lists within the theatre suite.
21. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
